Prof. Dr. John Meewella is a globally renowned Quadruple Helix Expert, specialising in academic, industry, governance and community integration.
His previous experience includes: University Professorships of Practice in Disruptive Innovation, Born-Global Internationalisation, Institutional Impact, Social Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Digitalisation. Industry Senior Executive roles spanning academic education & training, research & development, medical technology commercialisation, green energy and sustainability, positive psychology and human flourishing. Startup Experience in creating, incubating, accelerating, and building ecosystems and technology silicon valleys. His previous global academic qualifications include multiple doctoral, masters, bachelors, diploma, vocational and industry level.
John has been awarded: ‘2019 China Government Friendship Award’ for his contribution to EU-China multilateral developments & civic diplomacy efforts (highest civilian honour for foreign experts who contribute to China's economic and social development; decided by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and presented by the President of China; similar to Presidential Medal of Honor in the USA); ‘2020 Honorary Labor Medal, Jinagsu Province’; ‘2017-2018 Jinling Friendship Award, Nanjing’; ‘2010 Akoun Entrepreneurial Award, UAE’; and ‘2008-2009 Most Cooperating-Supporting Individual, Tamaiaz Challenge, Dubai’. John’s recent project Arctic Intel Oy & Arctic Intel Global is based out of Finland specialising in Education & Consulting services, Positive Psychology, Corporate Transformation & Social Entrepreneurship.
John is of Sri Lanka origin where he grew up in a family business operating in Sri Lanka, Japan and Australia: Meewella Holdings(www.meewellaholdings.com). He saw firsthand how a small business turned up to be a large international family business with global travel and experiences. Since youth, his heart was set on much more social impact, social entrepreneurial, truly global aspiring type alternative lifestyle; rather than a desire to follow family business in pure commercial aspirations. His high school, extensive university education and early career was in Australia.
